Running More Than One GMC? We Work With Fleets.
Contractors, property managers, and small businesses across DC and Maryland run their operations on GMC trucks and Savana vans — and a locked-out or key-less vehicle is lost revenue, not just an inconvenience. We cut spares for multiple drivers, respond to job-site lockouts, and replace lost keys without taking a vehicle out of service for a dealer appointment. The Classic GM Symptom

Flashing Security Light,
Won't Start? Here's What It Is.

If your Sierra or Yukon cranks but won't start — or won't crank at all — while a security or "Theft System" light flashes, this is almost always the anti-theft system doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Passlock & VATS — GM's Anti-Theft System, Explained
Older GMC trucks and SUVs share GM's Passlock and VATS anti-theft architecture with Chevrolet — a resistor pellet inside the ignition lock cylinder that the vehicle reads to confirm the key is legitimate. When it senses a mismatch — a worn key, a failing cylinder, or a genuine security event — it disables the fuel system and flashes the security light. Leaving the key in the ON position for about 10 minutes sometimes clears a one-time fault; a fault that keeps returning usually means a worn ignition cylinder or key, and that's exactly what we diagnose and fix on-site. The Honest-Scope Rule

What We Handle On-Site —
And Where GM Draws a Hard Line

Starting with recent model years, GM tightened security requirements on some of its highest-security trucks and SUVs — a factory-level authorization step that most mobile locksmiths and even many dealers don't carry. We tell you honestly which category your vehicle falls into before we ever dispatch a technician.

FAQ

GMC Key Replacement —
Most Asked Questions

The questions GMC owners and fleet operators in DC and Maryland ask us most.

Can you replace a lost Sierra or Yukon key without the original?

Yes, for most model years. We generate a new key from your VIN, cut and program it on-site. Some of the newest Sierra and Yukon model years require factory-level authorization — call with your exact year and we'll tell you honestly before dispatching. Call (202) 993-9919.

Do you program keys for Savana cargo vans?

Yes. Savana vans are a common commercial vehicle across DC and Maryland, and downtime costs money. We cut and program Savana keys and remotes on-site and can coordinate with fleet managers to get a van back in service the same day. Call (202) 993-9919.

My GMC security light is flashing and it won't start.

Classic Passlock or VATS symptom — the anti-theft system senses a mismatch and disables the fuel system. Leaving the key in ON for about 10 minutes sometimes clears it temporarily; a recurring fault usually means a worn ignition cylinder or key. We diagnose and fix it on-site. Call (202) 993-9919.

Can you handle fleet or multiple GMC vehicles?

Yes. We work with contractors, property managers, and small fleets running GMC trucks and vans — spare keys for multiple drivers, job-site lockout response, and key replacement without pulling a vehicle out of service. Call (202) 993-9919 to discuss your fleet.

How much cheaper is a locksmith than the GMC dealer?

Typically significantly less — and you avoid the towing fee usually required to get a dead-ignition or all-keys-lost vehicle to the dealer. Exact cost depends on key type and whether you have a working key. Call (202) 993-9919 for a free quote.

What GMC models do you service?

The full lineup: Sierra, Canyon, Yukon, Yukon XL, Denali trims, Terrain, Acadia, and Savana cargo and passenger vans. Coverage depends on model year — call with your specific vehicle for honest confirmation. Call (202) 993-9919.
